Welcome to my Practice!

Who I am:

I began my work in the field of mental health supporting at-risk youth and families in community-based programs in both California and British Columbia. I have experience working with youth ages four and up from diverse backgrounds coping with environmental, developmental, behavioral and mental health challenges.

I've been honoured to work as a Grief Support Provider for my local Hospice organization, providing individual and group support to those coping with the loss of a loved one.

More recently, as a Registered Clinical Counsellor in private practice and Master of Science, Counseling: Marriage and Family Therapy, my primary focus has been to provide the individuals, couples and families I work with a sense of safety and comfort in their time of need.

I most enjoy collaborating with clients; connecting through a mutual understanding of the hardships life often presents. Finding the balance between providing support (through education and expertise) and meeting a client where they are (with respect for their experience of their own needs and strengths) is a challenging and fulfilling part of the service I strive to provide.

My Credentials:

- Registered Clinical Counsellor, British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (since 2013)

British Columbia's regulatory body for clinical counselling practitioners: http://bc-counsellors.org/

- Master of Science, Counseling: Marriage and Family Therapy, University of Phoenix (since 2009)

APA Accredited

Clinical Perspective:

My perspective is client-centered and geared toward supporting the needs and initiatives of the client as a part of a therapeutic process they own. Identifying, familiarizing and supporting a client's understanding of their own strengths is another important aspect of my approach. These strengths are what we will utilize to support and maintain our progress. I use an eclectic theoretical ideology and a constantly expanding skill base to support you in accomplishing your goals.

Finally just as with any service or support, we like to see a value for the time and money spent. Being a solutions-oriented clinician means that I am dedicated to working with you to develop concrete skills, strategies and perspectives to create some movement towards the gradual relief of whatever your presenting concern.

Areas of Focus:

Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Trauma, Self-Harm, Suidical Ideation, Couples Conflict, Family Conflict, Child and Adolescent Development, LGBTQ Concerns
